Coated Abrasives
For coated abrasives, the abrasive grain is adhered to a cloth, fiber, paper or polyester film by the resin or glue bond. Abrasive grains are used to make coated abrasives tools, such as sandpaper, sand belt, sheets, discs, rolls, pads, flap wheels and others. The ability of the abrasive grain to penetrate the article being abraded depends to a large extent upon the hardness, toughness and shape of the abrasive. All four factors control the penetration of cut and the life of the grain.
